Received: 13/12/2019

Respondent: National Trust

Legally compliant? No

Sound? Yes

Representation Summary:

This allocation is likely to have a visual impact upon the setting of Stowe historic pleasure grounds and park. Whilst policy criterion (b) is supported which requires a landscape-led approach to development, it is considered that the impact on the setting of this Grade I registered park and garden is not fully accounted for within the policy wording contrary to paragraph 194 (b) of the NPPF.

Change suggested by respondent:

We therefore require criterion (a) to be amended to 'Provision of at least 130 dwellings at a density that takes account of the adjacent settlement character and identity and protects the setting of Stowe Park and Gardens'.
