Legally compliant? Yes

Sound? No

Representation Summary:

Sport England does not support the adoption of standards to identify the level of sport/recreation provision required to meet the demand generated by new development. Our view is that the Playing Pitch Strategy and/or the Built Facilities Strategy as a more robust assessment should be used to inform the amount and type of provision needed. It might be that improvements to existing facilities may be sufficient rather than new provision, in which case a standards approach doesn't account for the local context as it is based on making new provision available.

Change suggested by respondent:

Reference should be made to needs assessments in the form of Playing Pitch Strategy and Built Facilities Strategy rather than standards.
